Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings For Children

Before your child starts attending regular checkups and cleanings, we recommend that you bring them to Sebastian Dental Care Northeast for a “get to know you” visit. We’ll simply show them around the dental office and introduce them to the team so they can get used to everything before we provide any treatment. We find this makes routine checkups and cleanings go much more smoothly. Once we start taking care of your child, we’ll work to safeguard them from cavities and show them how to properly brush and floss so they always have a strong, confident smile.

Dental Sealants

Many children end up developing cavities on their back teeth because they easily trap plaque and bacteria in their deep grooves; plus they are particularly tricky for little hands to brush. We can provide help in this area using dental sealants, which involve placing a thin layer of dental plastic over these teeth. This prevents plaque, bacteria, and food particles from settling on the enamel, stopping decay before it ever starts.

Special Needs Dentistry

Every child deserves to have easy access to quality dental care, particularly those who may have difficulties with their oral health due to mental, physical, sensory, or behavioral special needs. Here at Sebastian Dental Care, we’re willing to make any accommodations necessary to ensure you and your child always enjoy smooth and productive visits. Just give us a call, tell us about your special smile, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Pulp Therapy

If a child’s tooth develops an infection in the inner nerve (known as the pulp), this can create quite a toothache and even cause the tooth to decay if left untreated. Fortunately, we can prevent this from happening and provide quick relief with pulp therapy. After numbing a child, we simply remove the infected pulp and fill the tooth, making sure to leave as much healthy tissue behind as possible so the tooth can function normally going forward.
